S.I.N. - THE 13th APOSTLE
ARTIST SERVICE
METAL TO INFINITY
Norwegian S.I.N. is formed around mid-2002 by ex-Somewhere Into Nowhere / Forever members...later on, the band had to deal with some line-up changes. With excellent albums like ''Somewhere Into Nowhere'' (2003) and ''Equilibrium'' (2005), S.I.N. came stand in an extremely well daylight by the international press and media which isn't unimportant if you want reach 'the top'. Former bass/guitar player Wolfgang Frank took the decision taking full control over his guitar duties so the band's hunt for a new bassist was opened. That mission was solved after they found the right replacement named Jan Ebert. Another mission to complete was to find a new singer, a task those finished when the band found Patrick Simonsen who played with Hush before. Ranks complete, S.I.N. was locked, loaded and ready for a new adventure in its career...a brand new album!
A new effort which would get the title of ''The 13th. Apostle'', actually a concept album about the son of God, who chose 12 apostles to fulfil his mission. As guitarist Deddy Andler explains himself: ''But Actually there are some different versions of his life and death, which were not accepted by the church , they are called apocryphal''. There is one apocryphal description added, more specifically, the story of 'Julian', the 13th apostle performed by newcomer Patrick Simonson - to me a singer of high appreciated quality, world-class in fact! One singer was not enough to make this concept complete. More vocalists were added to the ranks such as: Carsten Schultz (ex-Domain / Evidence One) in the role of 'Jesus' while Renee Walker (Renee Walker Band) is in charge as 'Junia' and the role of 'Judas' is in hands of Connie Andreszka (Circle Of Pain, Crystal Ball and Cabal). Boban Milojevic (Wicked Sensation / Snake Eye) takes some backing vox for its account.
So far a short briefing history about S.I.N. and renewed line-up. Which remained to say is something about the present style of music, right? This 'Christian story' brings us a unique piece of Melodic Power Metal with progressive vibes. One by one 'natural born musicians' taking their role very seriously, driven by the forces of Metal . The songs are build up with feeling for detailed perfection. The voice of leading vocalist Patrick Simonsen is outstanding. Shame on me I never heard of this guys before...what he does is fantastic, loud and very clear - above all, completely decibel loaded! I really have no other words for such a great singer. He's not the only world-class musician on board...full attention for both axemen named Deddy Andler and Wolfgang Frank please. These guys (also in for some key/bass parts) to bring up a true skill discretion. As for their guitar duties, fans of real 'shred' will be spoiled with full force. It's quite amazing how beautiful everything is worked out. Tracks that starts with a lot of emotion and softness, a bit later on breakouts appear to transform the set into a spitting fireball.
Parts of 'spoken words' varied with the power of Metal music and all its entourage such as blistering guitar works, heavy loaded bass-lines, superb vocals (also delivered by the guest singers!), etc, etc,.. An album about the 13th apostle, occasional or not but this work also contains 13 songs. Bombastic production, sometimes ''The 13th Apostle'' blows you apart in an eye rise, whereas other passages reflect pure gentle tenderness. You can bang your head during the 'Metal' parts, you can reload some energy during the ballads..;what can make an album still more attractive? For fans of Serenity, Evidence One, Dreamstone, Dokken,... that kinda stuff. More info about the band at: http://www.sin-band.com/ also order possibilities via: www.musicbuymail.eu MY POINTS: 87 / 100
