THE MODERN AGE SLAVERY - DAMNED TO BLINDNESS

NAPALM RECORDS

METAL TO INFINITY

Ok it's time for some Italian Deathcore now by The Modern Age Slavery with their debut album ''Damned To Blindness''. The Modern Age Slavery was founded in the spring of 2007 by ex-members of the cult Hardcore band Browbeat, the musicians wanted to create extreme music in the most intensive way possible.

The band consists of Giovanni Berselli - vocals, Luca Cocconi - guitars, Simone Bertozzi - guitars, Mirco Bennati - bass and Gregorio Ferrarese - drums. These musicians created a new sound that combines Death Metal with a Hardcore attitude that kicks you right in the face with tons of energy and a massive amount of rage!!! If you like 'Aborted', Job for a Cowboy, Decapitated, etc... than this is you're kind of stuff for sure!!!

The production is done by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Gory Blister) and the very fine disturbing artwork was provided by Dennis Sibeijn (Slayer, Lamb of God, Chimaira,...). ''Damned To Blindness'' has such a powerful production it grabs you by the throat and captures the rage and energy this album breeds, so play this album as loud as possible fuckers! The album contains 12 tracks of devastating pure fucking Metal and sets of with a dark intro which is the only rest you will get during the album b'cause after the intro total mayhem brakes loose and The Modern Age Slavery slings one infernal track following another and leaves no room for ballads or acoustic interludes as they take you away on a rollercoaster ride from hell!

This band offers no respite from grinding blast beats, brutal vocals, pounding drums, groovy bass and massive shreds from hell! Presenting a modern day release they continue to pay tribute to the spirit of the scenes forerunners by covering Entombed's 'Wolverine Blues' in which they succeeded successfully! The thing I like the most on this album is how they manage to mix the massive hardcore riffing with the brutal Death Metal shredding, this is absolutely an exposure of technical high skilled musicians with great ideas and the few guitar solos I heard on this album are from the same high level so I say 'thumbs up'!

The rhythm section is as tight as it could be and both wielders of the axe gives exact the bite this band needs and push the music to that higher level! It has to be said that this is a massive album and it's hard to belief that it's a debut, due to the mature sound & compositions you could easily think these guys are playing the scene for years! It's obvious these Italians are honest, hardworking Metalheads that are working up their butts to deserve a place next to the nowadays top-acts in the scene and no doubt they will achieve their goal!

The release is set on 28/11/08 for EU and on 13/01/09 for the US via Napalm Records, also check them out on the official site at: www.themodernageslavery.com or www.myspace.com/themodernageslavery   My rating: 89/100 (Review by Nicolas Bruggeman)
